In more modern times the community has come together many times to acknowledge and remember events, people and architecture in the area through out the areas history. You will find commemoration plaques at the nine arches bridge to its restoration, a commemoration plot in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic Famine of 1847, to those who engaged in the skirmish at Carnmore Cross on the 26th April, 1916, as well as many more.
